Entries open: November 1, 2013 to residents & business owners of Rainbow Beach, Cooloola Cove, Tin Can Bay & Wallu.
Christmas lightsEntries close: 5pm December 6, 2013
Judging and Lights on: 9-13 December between 7.30 pm & 9.30 pm (businesses – business hours)
Awards Presentation: Saturday December 14, Rainbow Beach Christmas Carols, Rainbow Beach Community Hall, 2013. Winners’ names will be published in the January Rainbow Beach Cooloola Coast Community News.
Entry is FREE and there is $1500 in cash or prizes to be won, across 11 awards. Creativity, and visual and artistic merit will determine winners of the following categories:

Tin Can Bay Seafood Festival 2013


Food, fun, entertainment and plenty more for the whole family all on the beautiful foreshore parklands overlooking Tin Can Bay.

The Tin Can Bay Seafood festival is a great way to spend the day! This event is the most popular and entertaining way to spend a Saturday for all the family.

This Free community event is a day for family fun as well as to promote the local seafood industry.

Mithchell Creek Rock & Blues Fest

An authentic all-weekend, long-weekend experience.An intimate capacity show set in and around the Mitchell Creek Valley in Mary Valley Country. 

A place where toilets, showers, food and bar access are never a problem. A place where camping is highbrow (dry, clean and you are never more than 100m from food, light, power, bins, facilities and music). In beautiful, grassy, bushy Australia in the valley surrounds of a natural mountainous amphitheatre featuring bunya pines, cedar trees, and the big, big starry sky.

National Tree Day 2013

National Tree Day and Schools Tree Day provide all Australians with an opportunity to do something positive for the environment and reconnect with nature. Hundreds of thousands of Australians planted over 1 million native trees, shrubs and grasses at more than 3300 Tree Day events in 2012.
Each year, around 200 000 Australian school students participate in a special National Tree Day event designed just for children –Schools Tree Day! It’s a wonderful opportunity for children to make a contribution to Australia’s natural environment and have lots of fun at the same time.
In 2013, National Tree Day will be on Sunday 28th July and Schools Tree Day will be on Friday 26th July.

2013 Floating Land Festival

Renowned artists from across the globe and an enthusiastic audience of festival patrons will gather at Boreen Point this year to take part in Floating Land Festival, one of Australia’s premier green art events.

National award-winning 10-day celebration brings together international, national and local artists to explore environmental themes through creative art practice. 
The festival will incorporate a diverse range of traditional, contemporary and virtual art forms including sculptural installations, dance, music, theatre and written and spoken word.

With the theme of Nature’s Dialogue, Floating Land will bring the science of nature to the forefront and provide a powerful platform for the creative community, science, technologies and culture to intersect.

Various locations at Boreen Point and satellite locations across the region will come alive from Friday 31 May to Sunday 9 June 2013 to celebrate Floating Land.

Bay to Bay Yacht Race 2013


When 14 people sat down to plan a trailer yacht race from Tin Can Bay to Hervey Bay on April 18, 1980, they began a sailing saga that became the biggest event of its type in Queensland- and second only in Australia.
A two day race format with a stopover at Garry's Anchorage, Fraser Island, was decided. The race now sees an average of 180 starters each year.
This year the event will be sailed over the Weekend of the 4th and 5th of May with Leg 1 Tin Can Bay to Garrys Anchorage 1100hrs to 1600hrs on Saturday, Leg 2 Garrys Anchorage to Hervey Bay 0730hrs to 1530hrs on Sunday and with trophy presentation at 2000hrs on Sunday at the Hervey Bay Boat Club.
